After a shower and short rest, we decided to take a walk around town to see the sights and try to find something to eat. I had only eaten the fillings of one sandwich and a boiled egg for lunch so I was ready for something hot to eat. Unfortunately, the places don’t open for dinner until 7 or 8 o’clock and I don’t like to eat that late. So, we went back to the room to snack on some of our lunch goodies.
Some more beautiful pictures of old structures.
The landmark of this small town is the parish church, Basilica of Saint Maria. The building was begun in the 13th century and its one of the few gothic churches located in a rural area.
It’s hard to believe something of this magnitude is in this small village.
This is the Jewish converteds cemetery. The Jews who had converted to Christianity can’t be buried in the regular Jewish cemetery.
This village also has fortress walls and an ancient moat.
A beautiful garden seen from the fortress wall. If you can zoom in on the picture, you can see how perfectly the rows are planted and how well maintained it is.
The rest of the pictures are just interesting village pics.
This is the public potable drinking spigot.
This is our Inn for the night - Casa Clara
There are 39 steps up to our room and we have made several trips. There are also 16 steps to the sitting area and I made many more trips to and from the room.
Sitting on the balcony enjoying the evening
Ending the day with 25,684 steps and 10 1/2 miles. Tomorrow is a very long hiking day with many ups and downs along the coast so off to bed we go. Of course I now have to go back up those 16 steps to our room :)
